ABOUT

Chris began playing the guitar at the age of 8 whilst also studying clarinet at school.  At 15 he played his first proper live show and has been performing and writing ever since.

He has amassed a great amount of experience both live and in the studio as a guitar player and singer and the professionalism that has developed is always evident.

Chris is equally at home as a solo performer, a band leader or a session player and always helps to create the atmosphere required for a band to perform at their best and for the audience to enjoy the show.

Being based in the Midlands, Chris is perfectly located to travel throughout the UK as required and regularly plays in London and its suburbs.

For functions and events Chris can provide anything from himself as a solo acoustic act to a five piece band, always self-contained with professional PAT tested sound and lighting equipment and the appropriate Public Liability Insurance.

Currently his main line-ups are KTO (rock covers from 60s to present, 3-5 piece, acoustic or electric as required, Midlands based), Chris & Nick Johnson (acoustic duo with harmony vocals performing original; material as well as pop and rock spanning the decades, Midlands & London based) and The Back Catalogue (acoustic and drums/bass duo, Midlands based).

Chris has previously been commissioned to compose music for pilot TV documentaries for Cromwell Productions as well as for websites and electronic point-of-sale VT through Radarvision Productions and is available for commissions.

With his brother Nick he has received airplay on BBC Introducing and performed a live session for BBC Introducing Hereford & Worcester in July 2015 at the Colwall Family Music Festival (see the links on the Media page for the audio and video). "Broken Hearts & Carpet Burns" also came in at No.6 on BBC Introducing DJ Andrew Marston's Top 10 songs of 2015/Hot for 2016 list broadcast in January 2016.  Chris and Nick are always working on new original material in their songwriting production partnership and they have a large and varied back catalogue of songs available for licensing. Riley, the brothers' blues/rock side project, also received airplay on BBC Introducing in 2015.

"Simply stunning. Heartfelt lyrics and powerful tunes."
